Flowers

I love flowers. They make me sneeze and can make my eyes all red..but I love them. And I want them to be a decent sized part of my wedding. Having said that..let's be serious. They wilt and die within a couple of days. Why am I being charged thousands of dollars?

For anyone else who is asking or has asked themselves that question, I want to tell you- there is a great wholesale flower shop off Moreno. It's on a little street called Metro; not sure the name of the place, but Metro is a cul-de-sac, and you can't miss it. Decent prices, great vase selection and a lot of additional decorations available there. Next I am going to a couple of places in Carlsbad to look as well-I will let you know if they are even better.

Anyway, I am still on the hunt for the ideal centerpiece to our wedding.

I've also done a lot of reading about varying centerpieces; so maybe half of the tables will have floral centerpieces and the other half will have hurricanes and votives on a mirrored plate with rose petals around the table? Thankfully, I have friends that are very good at making these things and coming up with great ideas (as I am many many thing..but creative is not one of them!). So if any of them are reading this--thank you so much for all of your help and advice!!!

THE WEDDING DETAILS...Important!

I thought it would be helpful to have this info online in case anyone else is like me and misplaces things! :)

**Please bring invitations and your ID's to the WEDDING! It is on a military base, and ID is REQUIRED, I also suggest making sure that your car registration info is in the car just in case! Currently, you are able to DRIVE YOUR CAR onto base, but if before our wedding the security increases, you will be instructed to park next to the base and be shuttled over--in which case the invitation is required**

EVENT: We are getting married on SATURDAY, 2/21/2009.

WHERE: Our ceremony is at the Admiral Kidd Conference Center (Pt. Loma-anit-sub base) OUTDOORS (unless it rains) on the water. Our reception will directly follow the ceremony in the downstairs room of the conference center

TIME: 5:00pm Ceremony
Reception to follow.

ATTIRE: Semi-formal

WHO: Our closest friends and family. We are having an ADULT ONLY ceremony/reception (only exceptions being our younger cousins, niece, nephew).

REGISTRIES: Bed Bath & Beyond, Williams-Sonoma, Crate and Barrel and North Island Credit Union (matri-money account, account # to follow with invitations)

We are so excited for our friends and families to come together and celebrate with us.

Martha Stewart

Martha Stewart. I hear that name and I feel like there will be some genius to the idea...sadly, not the case. I searched her website and anything that I could find with her name on it; but still don't love any of her centerpiece ideas that I saw for weddings. What has the world come to when Martha Stewart lets you down for decor ideas?!

I am changing gears and going with some girlfriends to another florist this weekend to see what I can think of-I don't think this should be hard, but at the same time, this is what you're staring at in front of you while you're eating...I want it to be pretty. More on this next week.

In defense of Martha Stewart's site...I did see some other great ideas on there...just not what I needed/wanted today.

Welcome to the mid/late 20's!

I give up. For months now people have asked what our wedding website is, and when we're getting one...well, I give up (sort of). I created this blog rather than a traditional wedding site so you can all join us on the journey to countdown our wedding. You see, we didn't just decide to get married. This year we've moved in together, got a puppy, got engaged, bought a house, are fixing (parts) of the house, training Heidi (the aforementioned puppy), and learning to bring our lives together and live as one couple rather than 2 individual people and planning our wedding.

Now, in addition to our wedding-one of my best friends just got married, Ross' sister is getting married in October of this year, my maid of honor (who is also my cousin) is getting married in June 2009 and my other cousin is getting married in May 2009. Weddings are everywhere! (Welcome to our late-mid 20's!).

There are so many wonderful things coming up, that the only way to stay up to date was to create a blog so everyone knows whats going on and what's new!
